Scent of a Home Kitchen Can Sell Your House By Chilly Zoretic Did you know that scent is your sense with the strongest memory recall? You can smell something and be taken to a specific place in time. Kitchen smells, the good kind, can have a lasting impact on our memory. Maybe the memory of Mothers and Grandmothers baking in the kitchen, holidays full of great food and sweets! Vanilla and cinnamon are especially favored, it reminds people of baked goods and takes them back to their childhood. If you have a home on the market, in addition to making sure it is clean and well staged, you should also consider what scents to use. Having your home smell of vanilla or cinnamon give a person a "home-y" feel. Having a scent of baked apple pie, sugar cookie or a vanilla can change the atmosphere of your environment. A long time tradition of a Realtor has been to bake cookies for an open house. People visiting the property are welcomed by the scent of fresh baked cookies. Why do they go to all this trouble when people can just buy a batch at the store? Because the scent recall of home! People instantly are transported to a place in their past with fond memories of Mom or Grandmom baking. This is a very important thing to consider when selling a home. A great kitchen smell can make the difference of someone loving or hating your house.
